Espanyol have confirmed that winger Albert Riera closes in on a Liverpool move. Riera has been keen to join Liverpool and Rafael Benitez needs to improve his left-hand side of midfield before the transfer window closes.

It is confirmed Riera has traveled to Liverpool to undergo a medical by Espanyol’s official website and the deal could be reality within hours.

Reports have put the figure around £8 million but no official details have been stated.

Riera is at Mersey side to undergo his medical.
