Chelsea’s season so far has been good with 37 points in 16 Premiership games. New coach Carlo Ancelotti has managed to get Chelsea back on track after 2 seasons with no premier league success. Today they took on Portsmouth who is fighting for the life in the Premiership. Chelsea was forced to win to stay clear of Manchester United in the top of the table. Furthermore, Chelsea has to win their December games as 4 players will departure for African Nation Cup in January. These players are top striker Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Mickael Essien and John Obi Mikel.

Arsenal was Saturday afternoon looking for an easy win against underdog Stoke home at Emirates after last weekend’s 3 – 0 defeat to Chelsea. This was same day as Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger announced he was interested in bringing in a new striker as Niklas Bendtner, van Persie and Edurado all are injured. Wenger said he likes Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko and Boudreaux striker Marouane Chamakh but admitted he is unlikely to make a bid for any of the strikers.

Liverpool has had a historical bad start to the Premier League season as they only have landed 23 points in 14 matches. Not good enough for a team like Liverpool which such a great history. Saturday afternoon could improve this statistic with an away win against underdog Blackburn at Ewood Park. The big problem this season for Liverpool has been the absence of skipper Steven Gerrard and target man Fernando Torres and with Torres still out Liverpool fans could fear for missing firepower up front.

Saturday afternoon underdog West Ham took giants Manchester United home at Upton Park. With only 14 points in 14 matches the pressure was on Gianfranco Zola’s side as he looked to secure an important home win against the Red Devils. Alex Ferguson’s side however, was forced to win in chase of Chelsea which before this game already was 5 points clear of United. In turned into a rather easy match for United. A late 1st half stunner from United legend Paul Scholes secured Manchester side a 1 – 0 lead at half time. In secund half Darron Gibson, A. Valencia and Wayne Rooney completed United’s 4 – 0 away win.
