Robinho to City

Robinho to City

This is a proof of “money talks”. City’s new owners claim they have made an offer of €30 for Real Madrid’s Robinho. Chelsea’s CEO Peter Kenyon stated that he was confident Robinho would join Chelsea, which doesn’t seem to be the case.

City’s new owners are Abu Dhabi United Group, which seems to have deep pockets.

Manchester United seems to win the transfer battle of Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Tonight, Berbatov meets with Sir Alex Ferguson at United’s Carrington training complex before heading to Old Trafford which could be the final act of the Berbatov transfer saga.

Later today, Manchester City stunned the Football world with a £30 million bid on the Bulgarian striker. The bid was accepted but United is most likely to win the striker’s services. Earlier this summer, Berbatov intimated a move to Old Trafford would be a dream come true.

To make things a bit more complicated, reports from Spain suggests that Real Madrid are planning to make a £36 million bid for Berbatov.

Shock transfer: Berbatov to City?

Posted by Mads On September - 1 - 2008

Dimitar Berbatov has been linked with a move to Manchester United all summer, but now Manchester City have stepped up with a last-minute offer for the Bulgarian international.

City Boss Mark Hughes has told Sky Sports News: “We have made an offer, I think it’s been agreed between ourselves and Tottenham, and it’s really about the boy making a decision. I‘m as stunned and excited by this as the fans are”.

Tottenham manager Juande Ramos has left out Berbatov in the last two matches and it seems more than likely Berbatov will be leaving White Hart Lane soon.

Berbatov is set to cost the buyer around £30 million.

Wenger still hopes to bring in new players

Alexander Hleb, Mathieu Flamini and Gilberto have already left Gunners this season and £12 million boy Samir Nasri has been the only signing so far. Arsenal Boss admits he needs to bring in a new midfielder in this summer transfer window.

With young talent Nasri as the only new signing there have been calls for Wenger to bring in an experience midfielder for his rather young talented midfield. Xabi Alonso and Gareth Barry have both been linked with a move to Emirates Stadium but Wenger does not want to comment the rumours.

He says: “We have still a long time to go. When you have experience of transfer dealings, you know that as long as something is not signed you know it can change very quickly so you can look very silly, so you don’t want to come out and announce it.”

He added: “We are out to look, if we find the right players we will do it, one or two”.

Wenger will not be concerned about financing new players. Arsenal director Danny Fizman says Wenger has the money to spend – £30 million on one player if he has to.
