Arriving at Anfield with a price tack of approximately £20 million in the summer 2007, the pressure has been on from the start for the young now former Atletico Madrid player. He was signed as the most expensive player ever by Liverpool FC and he soon showed he was worth every penny. Scoring a brilliant goal in his Anfield debut against Chelsea, Liverpool FC supporters realized a new legend was born. With his quick movement and excellent pace Fernando Torres is a threat to every defense.

With a total of 33 goals in 2007 – 08, whereas 24 where in the league he overtook Ruud van Nistelrooy and became the most prolific foreigner ever in a debut season in England.

Before joining Liverpool, Torres played 12 years for his hometown club Atletico Madrid. He became the youngest debutant ever in Atletico history in 2001 and after scoring 21 goals in 2003 – 04 Torres was named captain in an age of just 19.
